Butterflies will soon be making their appearance in our area. If you can’t wait or if your kiddos are studying the butterfly life cycle, they can easily be created using using watercolor spray paint and giant coffee filters called Texas snowflakes. The Texas snowflake makes a fun and interesting twist on a tried and true butterfly activity. We found them at Discount School Supply here. They are so cool and really big. However, they aren’t a must and regular coffee filters can be used to make the same effect just on a smaller scale.

We have been planting lettuce seeds and I hear they are sprouting. Some of the older kids have made these cute little planters for their seeds. The options are limitless and I thought you would enjoy them too. They make a fun Mother’s Day or teacher appreciation gift. You only need simple, inexpensive supplies too.

To celebrate that Spring is about to burst forth, we’re making a blooming tree craft with packing pink packing peanuts. It is a wonderful way to recycle them whether they be pink or white! We have so many beautiful spring trees in Missouri.

We are ready to celebrate a hint of Spring by planting lettuce. Planting seeds is a perfect way to teach science, language, literacy, and it incorporates other skills as well. I like planting lettuce because the kids can eat the sprouts and mature plants.
